How To Properly Clean Your Kitchen Cabinets

How To Properly Clean Your Kitchen Cabinets

1. Don't use scrubbers or abrasives

Keep some microfiber cloths around to use for wiping down your cabinets. If you spill something wipe up immediately. If you catch it later then just dampen your cloth or add a little soap. Also never use magic erasers, they are basically fine grit sandpaper and will eventually damage the finish on your cabinets.

2. Clear Dish Soap Should Be Your Go To Cleaner

They use dish soap to clean up oil spills for a reason. It is gentle, cuts through grease and grime, and is safe to use. Try to avoid soaps with dyes in them because they can possibly stain your cabinets.

3. Be careful with disinfectants

Right now everyone wants to be safe but disinfectants can quickly destroy a finish. Avoid using sprays on or around finished surfaces. Wipes are great for hard surfaces like counters and appliances, but you will want to use soap and warm water to clean cabinetry to protect the finish.

4. Be careful with your Appliance cleaners

Appliance cleaners are great but don't spray directly on the appliances, spray on a cloth or paper towel then wipe. We have seen stainless steel cleaner eat the finish on cabinets.

Side note: Wipe with the grain not against on stainless steel appliances.
